50 Not Out!!!! (Nearly)
Well tomorrow is the big day. Yes I am 50! I know I don't look it (more like 60 I hear you laugh!), and after last week's semi final I probably aged in front of everyone's eyes, but what a fantastic result highlighted on the site elsewhere!
So what sort of weekend will it be. I have been invited to a pre 50th Birthday dinner tonight by my sister-in-law and her Partner. Tomorrow I will be at Palace as usual to watch yet another new management team come in and try and help stave off relegation to League One! My first game was 1968 vs Millwall. We won 4-2 and I was hooked. 42 years of torture ever since!!! I have been told to keep the evening clear!! Sunday I have been asked not only to go the Under 13 Cup Final in the morning at Lordswood, but to go and find a 2pm fixture as well!!! Intriguing!
Still it's all exciting and let's hope that not too much alcohol is drunk tomorrow night, as I have to be at Lordswood at 9.00am on Sunday and yes I have the matchday programmes so no excuses!! I will try and get the PA right this year. I am bring Junior Brooke with me, who is quite good with PA systems and wants to do Music Tech at A Level. If you are coming to the Final, I hope the music is to your liking!!!
I wanted to take the opportunity to wish both Canterbury City and Hollands & Blair good luck for our first Final of the season, and if the weather stays fine, we should have a few more Cup games settled this weekend.
Enjoy your football and I will fill in the missing bits next week. Don't forget I never saw a colour TV until 1972 (age 12), and can't really believe the technology developments in my life time.
