Ben Greenhalgh - Inter Milan Contract
It all started way back last Summer when a chance phone call to County Office asked if Kent could supply some players for Sky One's Search for a Football Star. You will recall that we took 20 players to the Linford Christie Stadium in West London, by coach, and as well as getting 6 players into the final 20, Ben won the competition that afternoon.
Since then I am sure everything has been a bit of a dream for Ben. From his days at Corinthian where he was first introduced into the Kent Youth League, to represent Kent Schools, our County team, and to be playing a few games for Welling United, Ben is now training with Inter Milan! A fantastic story.
Ben began his contract back in January and is currently working with and training with Inter's Academy side which runs to Under 20. Ben's style of play was always well suited to the Italian way of playing football and we knew early on that Inter's coaches liked the look of him.
However, the competition was fierce and Ben deserves a huge amount of credit of realising early on that it was competition to be won, and not a jolly!!
Ben was home for a few days this week, and came down to Corinthian yesterday to catch up with a few mates, and to watch our County game.
Ben is a smashing lad, and a talented footballer. I am sure that you will all join me in wishing him well for the future as he has 6 months to prove to Inter he is worth keeping into the future. A once in a lifetime opportunity which in truth when we set out all those months ago we wouldn't have believed one of our own would win it.
Congratulations Ben, you have made many people in Kent football proud of you, and you are credit to your Mum and Dad, who are both very nice people.
We will keep you informed of Ben's progress. You can catch him on Five's programme with Ian Wright tonight which starts at 6.25pm on Channel 5. Ben is appearing live on the programme!
He is back to work tomorrow returning to Milan!!
Well done Benno!!!!
Ken and everyone connected with Kent Football.
