Hygiene and Swine Flu

Thanks to Val at KCFA for the article as below. Of course it makes good sense but it is a good idea to review ALL procedures to certainly include not sharing bottles!

Dear All,

SWINE FLU

As we all are aware Swine Flu is spreading rather quickly with more and more cases reported.

To help prevent the spread of infection it would be a good idea, (if you have not done this already), to raise with your managers/coaches good hygiene regarding drinks bottles.  Quite a lot of teams have a set of plastic water bottles for their players, sometimes they are named or numbered but in my experience when my son was playing, any bottle got thrust at a thirsty player during a stoppage in the game.

In this current climate it would be an idea to ensure all players have their own drinks bottle and stick to it.

I have just learnt that a member of an adult club felt unwell and was diagnosed with swine flu the day after training with his team mates and sharing drinks bottles.  This made me consider highlighting this issue with my Welfare Officers.

The welfare of our young players is paramount as always .. and prevention is better than cure!

Kind regards and as always thank you for your time
