KCFA Under 16 Trials - Update

A huge thanks to those players, parents and friends who braved the elements to support our final trial for the under 16s last night. My thanks to Sue and the Billings family for the use of Corinthians excellent facilities again, on a pitch that played superbly.

What a night. Goals galore, and some outstanding football. Not one bad foul, no dissent, and just a great night that if you could package it..............it is what youth football at this level is all about. I reckon that there must have been around 100 + spectators who were treated to the best trials we have held, double figures in total goals, and everyone telling me at the end that they didn't envy me having to choose from the players out there!!

I have told all the players that there will a while before they hear from me and the coaching team. We want to come out and have a look at the lads playing for their clubs and we do have until 30th September before we play Gillingham.

I would like to mention a very special moment last night which had nothing to do with football but in essence it really did!

On Sunday Ken Rayment collapsed and was taken to hospital which lead to the game between Hollands and Blair and Ramsgate being abandoned. Ken was in a bad way for sure, but thanks to the help given him to by everyone at the game including those from Ramsgate and the paramedics, he had miraculously recovered well enough to come home Sunday evening and to text me apologising he had caused the game to be abandoned! His lad Dan, who had witnessed this on Sunday came to last nights trial. I assumed that Dan had come on his own. Imagine when he said his Dad had come to watch!!! So those of you who saw me hugging another man, can now understand why!!

Ken is known by many of you, and advertises his company Viatex on the website. He is a great guy, and last night showed his dedication to youth football. I was delighted for his lad, who did well even to get out there, and I know that Ken still has to undergo some more tests as the diagnosis seems to be a slight stroke. Ken from everyone who knows you and from all the League Officers, we wish you well, and thank you and Dan for making it last night. Thank you so much.

Once again it shows the real dedication of all of you to your football and I am just very honoured to be part of it. I know that we will be tough to beat again this year whoever we select, and thanks for such a really good evening.

Ken (thanks to Gary, Simon, Pat, Tommy, Bruno, and Gary - My team!).
