Bola hat trick helps Crockenhill through to Round 2
Erith Town FC vs Crockenhill FC
Faversham Trophies Challenge Cup – Round 1
Sunday 28th September 2008 saw Crockenhill FC 93 travel to the Crofton Albion Sports & Social Club in Kidbrooke, SE London to meet Erith Town FC u15s in the first round of the Faversham Trophies Challenge Cup.
Erith Town FC confident after their away victory at Corinthians FC last week started the match brightly and full of enthusiasm but they were greeted by a Crockenhill FC 93 eleven who have learned the importance of forming attacking formations from the whistle.
Capitalising on the advantage of early possession, striker Luis Regis crossed to Sam Cannon to put the visitors 1-0 up within five minutes.
Midfielder Ray Knight struck a superb shot from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. A cross shot from right winger Jamal Hackett and a clever lay off from Sam Cannon helped Vences Bola grab two goals to extend the lead.
Despite the 4-0 score line credit goes to Erith Town FC who didn't give up the fight and ended the half well after getting a goal back. Ex Skills Academy School of Excellence left winger Sam Eastgate always looked dangerous for Erith but the well prepared and disciplined Crockenhill FC 93 defence never allowed him the opportunity to strike on goal.
Crockenhill FC 93 went into the second half 4-1 up and made a number of changes to their line-up bringing on Jamar Dobson, Kenny Idedevbo, Jordan Bunton-Williams and Lenny Beckett for the bruised Malakai Field.
The team passed the ball better but were not as clinical in front of goal as in the first half. Erith clawed another goal back to give them a glimmer of hope in the closing minutes of the match but the result was never in doubt, Owen Kabodi back from a long period recovering from injury played a pin point pass into Vences Bola to complete his hatrick.
Another very good performance from the boys who know that there is still room for improvement despite the impressive 5 – 2 score line.
The squad is looking very strong and full of confidence going in to next week's home league match versus Bromley FC.
